Position Summary:

 

The Facilities and Maintenance Manager at Piada helps keep our restaurants as beautiful and functional as they were the day they first opened.

 

This person is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of facilities & equipment in our Piada restaurants, Home Office, Lindey’s restaurant, and warehouse and is a part of the Development team.

Responsibilities

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Understand the direct connection between Preventive Maintenance success and the ability of our brand to deliver a world-class experience to our Guest.
  • Respond to and assist unit level management with service requests in a timely & efficient manner. Requests may relate to: kitchen equipment, plumbing, electrical, hardware/doors, HVAC, MUA and EF systems, floor finishes, cleaning services, roofing, and more.  
  • Partner with the company's key external vendors for facilities management support in all locations.
  • Manage minor store level improvement projects.
  • Help to diagnose chronic maintenance issues and develop proactive solutions to prevent them.
  • Manage and review service contracts.
  • Maintain an excellent understanding of good health and safety practices.
  • Interact with the design teams to help build world class restaurants.
  • Be available to address off-hours emergencies (nights & weekends).
  • Assist with restaurant closures, if applicable.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  Education, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Ability to interact with a wide range of personalities to facilitate prompt and dependable maintenance & repair solutions.
  • Experience in efficient management of maintenance and “handyman” repair items across several markets.
  • Understanding of project management and the ability to initiate, plan, execute, and close minor capital improvement projects.
  • Fundamental understanding of kitchen equipment, and the understanding of how to evaluate repair costs vs. depreciated remaining book value.
  • Proven ability to manage preventative maintenance programs.
  • Experience in contract negotiation as well as warranty management and enforcement.
  • Working proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
  • Cost tracking and budgeting expertise, plus ability to report on cost avoidance & savings.
  • Excellent understanding of MEP systems, especially mechanical systems.
  • MEP trade knowledge and the ability/aptitude to perform fundamental repair and maintenance tasks at the store level is crucial.
  • 5+ years of experience in restaurant maintenance or restaurant facilities management.
  • Experience with the Fast Casual restaurant segment is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

ADA Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Time spent will be split between working out of the Columbus office, and in the restaurants.
  • Team Member is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see.
  • Must be able to travel frequently.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 35 pounds) during the course of the workday.
